Could Your Home or Office be Blocking Your Success in Life
Success is something that we all seek in some way or another. It is at the core of our motivation, though we all have a different definition of what it means. Success, whatever it means to you on an individual level, is a type of balance and harmony within our own being and our own life. It makes sense then that harmony in your physical space would help to reflect and encourage your success.
Simplicity, Functionality & Clarity
One example that can help you to understand this concept, and that I am sure pretty much everyone can relate to, is clutter. A cluttered environment rarely seems to have the flow of energy that promotes a healthy and clear frame of mind. The clutter seems to cause an instantly messy feeling in the mind. It becomes hard to move around a space freely. Your energy is taken up trying to avoid the mess, and your thoughts pulled this way and that by little objects.
A clear space, on the other hand, instantly lends itself to clarity. On an office desk, for example, a simple setup of a laptop, pen and paper, and a drink, always helps me to know exactly what I am doing. There are no distractions implied by the setting. It’s just me and the work to be done.
Simplicity is more than just a freedom from clutter. It has to do with functionality. A bedroom is for sleeping, and perhaps for loving if you have a partner. An office is for working. The mind should know the functions when it enters a space, so that it is already set for success in the relevant department.
Get rid of clutter: free the space from anything that resembles mess.
Consider the function of the room or space: try a simple setup that highlights the primary functions of a room or space. If you need to mix spaces, such as if you have a workspace in your bedroom, then define the spaces and set them up to distinctly represent their function.
Feng Shui- The Energy Of The Room
Your physical space can either work for you and promote fortune, health, and love, or it can work against you and make success a difficult endeavor. Your home or office are energetic spaces which hold and transmit a certain vibration. Colors, materials, layouts, and the flow of space can all effect your mind state, and this in turn affects your ability to succeed.
In the East, this concept is known as Feng Shui, and has been utilized for thousands of years. The core principle is that the placement of objects affects the flow of chi (the vital life-force) in the space, and also that our environment has an intricate part to play in our inner workings.
De-clutter your desk: As mentioned earlier, the best way to make a start is to get rid of the clutter. You are metaphorically getting rid of the chaos, and bringing order and structure.
The ‘commanding position’: If you can have your desk facing the door then this is preferable. It gives you the feeling that you can see what is happening, and that includes the inner feeling of being ready for opportunity. If you work alongside another person that try not to have your desks directly facing, as this can attract negative energy.
Plants: One of the top Feng Shui tips for offices, is to have nice healthy potted plants in the workplace, and maybe on your desk. The plants clean the air, and keep the flow of chi high. They promote good health and motivation.
Use inspirational imagery: Decide what your success looks like. Define it. Do you want write at your desk? Do you want to make money? Do you want to travel? Use images that support and remind you of these goals, so that they become rooted in your inner workings.
Hopefully you have learned some helpful tips to transform your space so that you may experience the infinite grand possibilities that await you in your personal and professional life. You can influence the degree to which you experience success by applying some of these tips. Success is already yours. Now, transform your space and go claim it!
